Indian Arrested for Arranging Fake Schengen Visas
The fraudulent operation also promised illegal entry into the USA via Germany, all based on fake documents, AtoZSerwisPlus reports.
The Indian citizen, who has been identified as Jagpreet Singh, 29, was detected due to his suspicious behaviour by the India Gandhi International (IGI) Airport workers.
The police were soon informed about him, and then they proceeded with the arrest.
As local media have revealed, Singh has not been working alone in securing fake Schengen visas and facilitating entry to the bloc.
However, the other persons involved have yet to be identified as the investigation is still ongoing.
According to the police, the same person is also linked to two people who have just recently been deported from Germany.
The two deported Indians were found to be holding fake Schengen visas upon their entry into the territory of Germany. Singh secured these documents for them.
In addition to the above-mentioned, it has been disclosed that the main purpose was not to help Indians enter and remain in the EU.
By providing fake Schengen visas, Singh promised to help them ultimately reach the US from Germany.
5 People Were Arrested in India This January for Submitting Fake Schengen Visa Documents
Cases of people being involved in the counterfeiting of Schengen visas and other documents have started to become prevalent in India.
At the beginning of this year, five persons in India were arrested for having submitted fake Schengen visa application documents.
The five persons submitted forged documents in their application for a Germany Schengen Visa, and the irregularities were detected following a report from a German Consulate General advisor.
As the relevant authorities revealed, they found fake visa stamps on the passports of those who submitted fake documents.
Regarding the document that the applicants had submitted, the authorities did not disclose their type.
Once the investigation on these five people is over, the authorities will take measures, with the possibility of introducing a ban from entering Germany and the other Schengen member states.
In addition to the above-mentioned, EU authorities have also been identifying people forging identity documents.
Just last month, nine people were arrested in Italy for counterfeiting EU identity documents for the purposes of facilitating irregular immigration to the bloc.
Through these documents, some third-country nationals first reached Italy via Malta and then aimed to travel to other Western European countries.
