Work permit
A work permit is a document that entitles a foreigner to take up legal work in Poland, provided that the foreigner has a visa or a temporary residence permit allowing work in Poland. Please be patient when you get a work permit, as some provincial offices issue it within 4-6 months of submitting a complete application.
A type of work permit is only issued to the selected employer and not to work for anyone.
The authorisation indicates the entity entrusting work performance to the foreigner and the position or type of work to be performed by the foreigner. Therefore, assignment is considered legal only if the foreigner performs the work specified in the permit. Everything must be done precisely as it is in the license; no exceptions are allowed.
A foreigner must have a new work permit to change jobs.
This means that if a foreigner wants to change jobs (i.e. employer and job position and industry in which he is employed), he must obtain a new permit. There are, however, certain situations when the key remains valid despite changing circumstances, e.g. when only the name of the entrepreneur entrusting the work changes and the rest of the conditions remain unchanged.
The permit is valid for the period for which it was issued. The expiry date of the license is stated in the document. We may receive the visa for a shorter period than the length of the permit. Then obtaining another consent based on the same record will be necessary.
Important: A work permit is required when taking employment based on both employment and civil law contracts.
