Europe and China Air Connectivity to Improve in 2024
According to the report, which analyses flight schedules, American airlines will have 83.5 million outbound air seats in the first half of the year, which is 14.12 per cent more than in the previous year.
However, the number of seats available at Chinese airlines will be exponentially higher than in 2023 – 138.56 per cent, more specifically, while the total number of outbound air seats will reach 35.1 million, ranking China eighth country in terms of air connectivity for the year, AtoZSerwisPlus.pl reports.
The total air seats for these ten countries amount to 482,102,279, contributing to 42 per cent of the global international air seats in the first half of the year.
The data show that connectivity between European countries and China has improved, as countries like Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are no longer required to apply for a visa to travel to China. This move encourages a remarkable increase in connectivity, offering 1.98 million air seats altogether.
This marks an impressive 190 per cent increase compared to the first half of 2023, when only 682,000 seats were available. This surge, as Mabrian reveals, is supported by a recent measure announced by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to encourage the return of European tourism. It allows citizens of France and four other European Union countries to travel visa-free to China for stays of up to 15 days.
The second country to lead for having the best air connectivity this year is the United Kingdom, which has a total of 72.8 million outbound air seats for the year – up by 8.37 per cent compared to 2023 levels.
Third to follow is Germany with 53.7 million seats and Spain with 0.3 million fewer seats, both scoring 13.29 and 12.55 per cent increases from the previous year, respectively.
The United Arab Emirates will also have a 12.24 per cent increase in their outbound air seats, totalling 41.8 million passenger seats, while France will have 41.1 million – 7.40 per cent more.
The list of top ten countries with the best air connectivity for the first half of 2024, taking outbound air seats available for travellers, is further concluded with Italy(37.2 million seats), China (35.1 million), Turkiye (32.5 million) and Japan (28.9 million).
Out of these countries, Japan will have the second highest air connectivity increase, with the number of seats for travellers being up by 48.26 per cent.
