I am Cheikh Ndiaye, a trained metal fitter from Dakar, Senegal. For years, I worked on small welding and assembly projects, but the pay was low, and there was no job security. I wanted to use my skills in a place where my work would be valued, but I feared the scams and false promises that so many friends had experienced when trying to work abroad.
As the eldest son in a large family in Senegal, I carry a big responsibility. My parents, siblings, and even some extended relatives depend on my support. That’s why I couldn’t afford to take risks with my future. I had heard too many stories about fraud and fake promises when it came to working abroad—so I was very cautious.
